Two Castles Run 2009

The annual 10K dash between Warwick and Kenilworth Castles was held on Sunday 7th June in pouring rain, wind and unseasonally low temperatures. Standing in these conditions for 3 hours was nothing though compared with what the 3,000 or so hardy runners endured as they raced between the two historic monuments.

Unbelievably, having left Warwick at 9am, the first runner passed me at Castle Farm, with less that 2Km left to run, at 9.28am! I doubt if I could have driven the distance much quicker!

After the first runner, the rest came in thick and fast with, as far as I know, all runners finishing (at some point!)

Gentlemen's Night Out Awards Ceremony 2009

The Birmingham-based Gentlemen's Night Out charity held their annual presentation of cheques to deserving charities at the Birmingham Hilton Hotel recently. The money is raised during the year by an annual dinner event and sponsorship of runners in the London Marathon.

The uniqueness of the GNO is that all money raised goes directly to beneficiaries without any deduction for administrative or other overheads whatsoever.

Always a humbling event, this year was no exception and amongst the various guests were the amazing marathon runner Dave Heeley (otherwise known as 'Blind Dave') with his faithful dog Wicksie. Dave achieved worldwide notoriety when he completed 7 marathons in 7 days in 7 continents! He indicated that something even bigger is on the horizon, but wouldn't be drawn any further as to what!

PLASA AGM 2009

The recently opened Kings Place - London's magnificent new concert venue - was the location of the Professional Lighting and Sound Association's (PLASA) 2009 AGM. 

The event was well attended by leading figures of the technical side of the entertainment industry and after the 'business' of the AGM, delegates were treated to a drinks reception and 3-course lunch, whilst video cameraman Mickey and I had a sandwich and bag of crisps. Who says a photographer's life isn't a glamourous one?!

After lunch the delegates were entertained by the guest speaker, ex-Mayor of London Ken Livingstone, who gave an interesting, amusing and highly informative speech.
